2. The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling
My second book of 2009 was mostly read to my son. For those of you not familiar with the book, it consists of short stories followed by commentary from Albus Dumbledore (a character in the Harry Potter series of novels).
I read the stories to my son and then went back later to read the commentary. I'm really glad I did. While I enjoyed some of the stories, the commentaries were the funniest and most enjoyable parts of the book for me.
I also think it's great that Rowling is donating her royalties from sale of the book to the Children's High Level Group, a charitable organization that helps children in Europe.
So all in all, it's another book I recommend reading and purchasing if you can afford it.

I had more fun reading the first HP novel aloud, so I shall get this one as well. Plus, I've read all seven HP books multiple times each, so this one would be inevitable.
