QotD: My Alma Mater
What's your alma mater?
Submitted by Lies.
As an undergraduate, I attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Founded in 1770, it is the oldest school in South Carolina and the 13th oldest in the US. You can read more about the school's history here. A liberal arts school, it was a great place for me. Even when I decided to go the boring business major route, I still got to enjoy plenty of interesting electives. Randolph Hall, you're looking a little rough. I'm not sure of the date of this photo. It didn't look like this when I was there from 1994-1998. It's either gone into decline, or this photo was taken before its last restoration. If I'm feeling productive tonight, maybe I'll post some pictures from my graduation and tell the infamous ketchup story.

I have always wondered how many old buildings like that were still standing at the war, imagining most of them to be gone. It's lovely to see.
I think Charleston was spared most of the ravages of the Civil War. I know it's taken its fair share of damage from hurricanes, but there are still many beautiful pre-War buildings. It was a really lovely place to go to school.
Randolph Hall can be seen in quite a few movies, but I can't recall the names of any at the moment. I know it is in North & South.
And that building is the definition of majestic, so I'm not surprised it's appeared in movies.
