He smuggles it in like contraband,
A sapid treat in a semilunar box,
A special surprise for me.
His mantic perception of my desires
Has become a cherished praxis.
The zeitgeist of our courtship,
Bound in sweet honey.
The halvah from his mother’s kitchen,
Like the longing in his dark eyes,
Transports me to a state of ataraxia,
With a lick and a promise
Of more sensual serendipity to come
The next time we meet.
