I went to see Nim's Island today with my son and his father.
I didn't hate it. And that's why I owe Kelly an apology. I've been telling her for weeks how awful it looks and that I wouldn't go see it. But it was cute. Light, not too heavy and happy endings all around. Jodie Foster did a good job in a comedic role that was pretty far from her usual stridant, strong, woman against the world roles. Lots of animals to keep my son entertained. Beautiful scenery. His dad hated it, but he never likes anything, so... Yep. We liked it.
Last night, I hung out for a few hours with Kelly while my kiddo was hanging with his dad. I was in the mood for a scary movie and Kelly loves scary movies, so watched Hostel: Part II.
It rocked.
It also features my celebrity crush du jour: Stanislav Ianevski. Viktor Krum has grown up quite nicely. Now I can't wait for the seventh Harry Potter movie, since Viktor makes an appearance in that book. [I don't think he's in the sixth book, but if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.]
10:51 - I'm watching March of the Penguins. And drinking wine. Lots of wine.
10:52 - Morgan Freeman rocks. I bet he's a good dad.
10:53 - Dammit. "This is a story about love."
10:56 - Did I ever tell you the story about the stuffed penguin someone left in my car in high school? It was creepy. It was a homemade, stuffed penguin. I mean WTF was that about? I need more wine.
10:59 - It was not "homemade" in a cute way. It was homemade in a creepy, I'm going to skin and stuff you next way. I never found out who did it.
11:02 - Girl fight!
11:06 - Chatting with Kelly during gratuitous penguin soft-focus porn shots.
11:14 - Penguins are feminists! You go, penguins!
I've recently started watching The Office. I know! How could I have not seen this show before last month? I don't know. I watch a lot of television, but most of it is animated or involves superheroes (and I don't mean Heroes, either). My brother had a season two disc of The Office from Netflix and he told me I had to watch some of it. So, I did. And now I'm hooked. I've watched the first season (only six episodes) and have just started watching the second season. It's possible that a miracle will occur and I'll watch the third season before the fourth season starts in the Fall.
It's a very funny show. I'm sure you all know this already, as you have all seen it before. But I enjoy making obvious statements when I'm bored. Clearly.
Since I'm bored, I propose we play Desert Island like they do on the show.
My answers:
3 books: Anna Karenina, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and Little Women
5 movies: Secretary, A Bug's Life, Go, The Mummy, and The Mummy Returns
Bonus - "Who would you do?"
Hmm... I'll have to think about this one.
